Privacy notice

What personal information we collect when you visit this site or send us an enquiry, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and how to ask us to see, correct or delete it.

Who we are

The responsible party is Filmic Aerial Services (Pty) Ltd, Cape Town, South Africa. Our Information Officer is Dimitri Vaindirlis. For anything in this notice, email info@filmic.co.za.

What we collect

• Your enquiry. When you use the contact form we receive what you type into it: your name, email address, phone number if you give it, company, shoot dates, location and your message.
• Where you came from. If you reach the site from a Google ad or a tagged link, your browser keeps the ad click reference and campaign details for 90 days, and sends them with your enquiry so we can see which ad led to it.
• Phone and button taps. When you tap the phone number or an Enquire button, we record that a tap happened and on which page. We do not see your phone number unless you call us.
• Google Analytics and Google Ads. On filmic.co.za, Google Analytics and Google Ads set cookies that measure visits, the pages you view, the device and browser you use and your approximate location, and whether a visit led to an enquiry.
• Umami. Umami counts page views and button taps without cookies and without identifying you.

Why we collect it

• To reply to your enquiry, quote for the work and plan the shoot, including the permits it needs.
• To keep a record of what was asked and agreed.
• To understand which pages and ads bring enquiries, so we spend our advertising sensibly.

We do not sell your information and we do not add you to a mailing list.

How long we keep it

• Enquiries that do not become a job: up to two years, then deleted.
• Enquiries that become a job: for as long as we need them for the job, invoicing and our tax records, which is usually five years.
• Google Analytics data: up to 14 months, then Google deletes it.
• The ad click reference in your browser: 90 days, or until you clear your browser storage.

Who we share it with

We share personal information only with the services that run this site and our email:

• Google, for our email (Google Workspace), Google Analytics and Google Ads.
• Cloudflare, which hosts this website.
• Resend, which delivers the contact form to our inbox.
• Umami, which counts visits without identifying you.

These providers may store data outside South Africa. We use them because they apply protection comparable to POPIA. We do not share your information with anyone else unless the law requires it.

Your rights

You can ask us, free of charge, to:

• tell you what personal information we hold about you and give you a copy;
• correct anything that is wrong or out of date;
• delete it, where we do not need to keep it by law;
• stop using it for measuring ads.

Email info@filmic.co.za and we will reply within 30 days. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time; the site still works without them.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa. Its complaint forms and contact details are on inforegulator.org.za.
